Painted Pumpkins

I love fall crafts.  Unlike so many other seasonal crafts, they stick around for several week.  I like to start doing them in September, and then they can be on display until U.S. Thanksgiving.  I celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving (same weekend as Columbus Day) so I like to have my house decorated and ready by early October.

This past year, my good friend Katie and I got the idea to paint some pumpkins and gourds.  We went to Trader Joes, and got some great shaped pumpkins and gourds.  Then on to Michael's for some paints.  Below are some pictures of our results.  Two things to note - #1 Katie painted some of them, so I have to give credit where credit is due!  #2 These lasted between 6 and 10 weeks.  You just have to push a bit on them every few days, and make sure they aren't getting squishy!

This project cost about $12 (about $8 for a pumpkin and 6 gourds) and $4 for craft paints.
